Garage Door Before & After in Galveston, TX
We can tell you we’re thorough, but a finished door speaks for itself. These are real jobs we’ve completed across Galveston, from the East End historic district to the west end near Jamaica Beach. Salt air, hurricane prep, and forty years of Texas sun each leave their mark. Here’s what it looks like when we make it right.
Recent Transformations
Rusted-Out Bottom Panel Replacement, Offatts Bayou
The homeowner near Offatts Bayou called us after noticing daylight showing through the bottom of their sixteen-year-old steel door. Galveston’s salt air had eaten through the lower panel from the inside out, and a high tide in October finished the job. We sourced a matching Clopay section from our supplier in Houston, swapped the panel, and resealed the threshold with a vinyl bottom seal rated for marine environments. Door closes tight now. No more water, no more rust spreading upward.
Failed Torsion Spring on Double-Wide Door, Lasker Park
A couple on Avenue O heard their spring snap at six on a Tuesday morning, leaving their two-car door dead-weighted and their cars trapped inside. We don’t recommend touching a loaded torsion system, the stored energy can cause serious injury. Our technician arrived by eight with the correct wire size already on the truck, replaced both springs as a matched set, and rebalanced the door. We cycle-tested it twenty times before we left. They’re back to normal, and the new springs are rated for fifteen thousand cycles in Galveston’s humidity.
Hurricane-Racked Track Rebuild, Pirates Beach
The west end takes the full brunt when a storm comes through. This Pirates Beach homeowner had track that was originally fastened with masonry anchors into stucco, which pulled clean out during a close-call tropical storm. We removed the damaged vertical and horizontal track sections, located the actual wall studs with a finder, and back-hung the new track with continuous angle iron lag-bolted solid. We also upgraded the rollers to nylon-coated steel for quieter operation. It’s not going anywhere next time the wind picks up.
Opener Upgrade with Smart Features, Downtown Galveston Historic District
A family on Ball Street was done with the racket their old opener made, especially with a nursery directly above the garage. They also wanted to stop wondering if they’d left the door open after driving to work in Houston. We installed a LiftMaster belt-drive unit with integrated myQ, set up the app on their phones, and added the battery backup so they’re not locked out during a power failure. The belt runs quiet enough that they don’t hear it from upstairs. We programmed two remotes, showed them the vacation lock feature, and cleaned up before we left.
Complete Door Replacement, Spanish Grant
This Spanish Grant homeowner bought the house with the door it came with, a thin single-layer steel door that dented if you looked at it wrong and let the summer heat straight into the garage. We measured the opening, helped them pick an Amarr Stratford collection door with vinyl-backed insulation and a ranch panel profile that matched the neighborhood style. Our crew removed the old door and hardware, installed the new track and torsion system, and balanced everything. The garage stays cooler now, and the door actually adds curb appeal instead of subtracting it.
Emergency Cable Repair, Midtown Galveston
The call came in at nine on a Saturday, a renter near 45th and Broadway couldn’t get their car out because one cable had frayed through and the door was sitting cockeyed in the opening. Frayed cables can snap without warning, and a falling door is dangerous. We dispatched a technician who replaced both cables as a pair, reset the drums to equal tension, and lubricated the hinges and rollers while he was there. Door tracks straight now, and we didn’t charge extra for the weekend call. That’s just how we operate.
